The bats came alive at Coors Field tonight. The Giants scored 8 runs within the first three innings of the game. Notably, Nate Schierholtz hit a solo home run measuring at around 467 feet. Also of note, Pablo Sandoval drew three walks in the game. Now that’s something you might not have imagined after last season.
Tim Lincecum cruised through the Rockies lineup. He went 6 1/3 innings before giving up a hit to outfielder Carlos Gonzalez. That hit would lead to the Rockies’ only run in the game.
Yes, Coors Field is a launching pad. That’s been well documented. But it’s even more of a feat when one of the game’s best pitchers of today waltzes into the seventh with a no-hitter intact at said ballpark.
