Here’s a fun fact: the Colorado Rockies went 8-21 in May. They came into San Francisco having won their first game of June. So of course they’ll soundly beat the Giants tonight, right? WRONG! So delightfully, deliciously wrong.
Despite walking Chris Ianetta twice, the Giants still win by a score of 3-1.
Manny Burriss ends up with 3 hits, along with one pick-off. That pick-off looked bad, especially when Freddy Sanchez singled immediately after, followed by a deep fly-out from Aubrey Huff that would have scored Burriss if he were still on base. Fortunately, Cody Ross bailed Burriss out, hitting a hanger deep into left field to score Sanchez and Nate Schierholtz.
No doubt wanting to impress his family in attendance at his first home start, Brandon Crawford followed up with a drive that hit off the base of the right field foul pole, scoring Ross. Not to be outdone, Crawford’s mom grabbed herself a foul ball later in the inning.
