The Giants set to open a three game series against the Pittsburgh Pirates (54-59) at home tonight. In the last ten games, the Pirates have been 0-10. With the Giants’ luck, this will be the time the Pirates break the streak and win a few games.
In the previous series, the Giants just barely avoided being swept by the Philadelphia Phillies. With no changes in the offensive department, every run is precious. No RISP is safe from being left on base.
After being removed from yesterday’s game, Carlos Beltran is day-to-day with a sprained wrist. Seeing as the offense is stale as it is, this is necessarily not a good thing. On a rather good (and reasonable) note, no Giants players will miss any games due to their involvement in the fracas that was a fight against the Phillies last Friday.
The probable pitchers are as follows:
Monday: Ryan Vogelsong (9-1, 2.19 ERA) vs. Charlie Morton (8-6, 3.80)
Tuesday: Madison Bumgarner (6-11, 3.71) vs. James McDonald (7-5, 4.23)
Wednesday: Jonathan Sanchez (4-6, 3.10) vs. Jeff Karstens (8-6, 3.05)
