In the second to last home series of the season, the Giants are set to face the antagonistic Padres one last time.
The Giants are coming off a series loss to the Dodgers, after having taken the series against the Padres in San Diego. With two weeks left in the season, the Giants are 8.5 games back in the NL West and their elimination number is looming at 8. They’re also 7.5 games back in the NL Wild Card race.
At this point, all the Giants have left is to play the guys who will be making an impact in 2012. With an anemic lineup that barely gets run support for their best starters, hope for the playoffs is running thin, to the point that there is no hope left.
This series against the Padres will be one for the Giants to prove that, while their playoff chances are slim, they do not want to fall into third place.
Might be kinda tough considering the Padres always seem to have the Giants’ number.
