According to multiple sources, the Giants have reached an agreement to retain ace Tim Lincecum through 2013 and avoid arbitration. The deal will pay Lincecum $18M in 2012 and $22M in 2013, plus a $500k signing bonus. This paves the way for Lincecum to test free agency at the close of the 2013 season, looking for what could prove to be a record setting deal for a starting pitcher.

Lincecum has a physical scheduled for next week, so the deal will most likely not be official until then.

Despite the deal, Barry Zito will still take home a bigger payday in 2012 than any other Giant.
