Series Preview: Giants Take On Cincinnati

The Giants head to the Great American Ballpark for a three game series against the Cincinnati Reds.

The Reds are … well, there’s only one team in the NL Central that is above .500 and that’s not them, so that should give you an indication of how things are going in that division.

But hey, Mat Latos is now in Cincinnati! How quaint. He’s also given up 14 runs in 15.1 innings.

[insert biased comment about how Mat Latos is not a pleasant person]

Tonight, though, it’s a battle of the Matts, except one inexplicably is missing a T from his name.

Matt Cain is on the hill for the Giants as he faces Latos and the Reds.

Then, it’s Barry Zito versus Bronson Arroyo. There is something about this matchup that just screams “John Mayer and Jason Mraz duet is going to blast through the PA system while everyone eats avocados and does yoga.”

In the finale, Ryan Vogelsong looks to face Homer Bailey.

The lineups for this series should be interesting — Aubrey Huff left yesterday due to a personal reason regarding his family. He’s in the lineup today, but…

So who knows?

And there are these Bruce Bochy gems of wisdom:

Welp.

(But yeah, let’s not even consider the fact that there’s no regular starting first baseman, hence why no one has gotten “hot” or anything. Makes a lot of sense.

Sigh.)

Here are the lineups for today’s game.
